What does clothing PILLING mean? how to fix it?
Question:
Answers:
You'll notice little balls on your clothing, or pills, where the fabric is wearing. Sweaters are notorious for doing it when washed or areas that get rubbed a lot, but they aren't the only items that behave that way.
You can shave or pick the pills off, or handwash such items (that are prone to pilling) to limit the amount of it.
"To avoid pilling, we recommend hand washing your sweaters, especially those that have looser textures, applied embellishments or openwork patterns. For those that are machine washable, at least turn them inside out before tossing into the washer. If you have a pilling problem already, you can use an electric piller/fabric shaver (found at stores like Target) that runs on batteries or through a wall outlet. Fabric shavers are easy for removing pills on a flat knit, but they should not be used on knits with naps, textures or lofty surfaces. "
pilling is when the fibers of the fabric have come together in little balls on the surface. Usually the only way to remove them is with a razor
Pilling means that the fabric has developed all of these little tiny balls of fuzz all over it or in many areas. Easiest way to fix it is a clothes shaver. You can get them just about anywhere, like Walmart. It's a small battery operated gadget that you run over the surface and it shaves those "pills" off.
you've got some good explainations on pilling and fixing - here's a way to stop it. in the wash or rinse cycle toss in about 1/2 c of plain white vinager. your clothes will be cleaner, disenfected, helps reduce pilling, natural fabric softner AND no they won't smell like a salad LOL
