So i've heard antibacterial soap is bad?!?
Question:I've heard that it kills the "good" bacteria also. Which isn't good. Do you agree with this, and if you do what kind of soap do you use that isn't antibacterial?
Answers:
I just got this lecture from the doctor who thinks I use too many antibacterial products from soap, to waterless soap to cleaning products. She says most soap contains detergents that remove bacteria anyways and as soon as you touch something that has bacteria on it after washing you have it right back!
i use normal old regular soap - sometimes dial, irish spring - whatever. i will say you have heard correctly. it does remove the good bacteria and nowadays everyone does the whole anti everything and that is NOT good. think abotu it. you pick up a small portion of "bad" bacteria - your body builds up an immunity to it - that's what our antibodies do. then when you get a larger dose - you're okay. people are getting sicker and sicker during cold and flu season and even when it's not. i see the correlation and hope more people do soon as well!
By over-using antibacterial soaps, we are allowing resistant bacteria to multiply, thus colonizing our homes with "super-bacteria". Simply washing your hands, with any kind of soap that does not contain moisturizers or lotions, will remove most bacteria. Yes, little kids carry germs and colds! Just keep your own hands away from your face, especially your nose, eyes, and mouth, to help avoid being infected.
