What washing machine should i choose for value for money?

Front loading washing machines claim to be cheaper as they use less water. But because they use less water, the washing cylce can be 1.5 to 2hours+ long.
Having to keep pushing the little amount of water around to clean the clothes, hence you use more power compared to a top loading machine (Washing only taking 45min to 1hour+ in a top loading machine).
Also be careful if mention about an "economical cycle" that uses less water. Because use less water the instruction mannual suggest that you do not use any detergent (powder or liquid) at all. Only to use water.
This is beause the "eco cylce" uses less water (maybe half) hence the washing powder residue remains on the clothes and is not removed.
2kg lg top loader.
What do you want - clean clothes or money saving? Top loading machines donot clean as clean as front loading machines. Also please make sure it has a temp control if you want to clean white clothes and the collars and hand cuffs unless you want to scrub it yourself manually - but then if you want to scrub it, might as well wash them completely manually. I use LG front loading 6kgs - excellent results
Fisher & Paykel - they have smart economic ones that adjusts the water level & time spent on cleaning according to the dirt in ur wash (u key in the dirt gauge). Plus, they look really good! I love mine!
I have a top loading Whirlpool that cost $349 at Menards and it washes just fine- all stains come out if I pretreat with shout gel. If you pay more than that for a machine you are just paying for the extra features that you probably don't need. I wanted: temp. control, various load sizes, regular andgentle cycles and I got all that for $350
