Alternative to clothes pegs?
Question:At the moment I use a clothes horse to dry my washing but everything always falls off, especially if it's windy. So I'm going to put up a clothes line instead but I don't like the marks the pegs leave on my clothes.
So does anyone know an alternative to keep my clothes on the line without getting the indents/marks which pegs leave?
Answers:
Thread the line through holes, such as armholes, leg openings etc. then re tie the line. Doesn't work with towels, hankies etc. of course, but then...you don't wear these things.
you can buy soft pegs which are meant for fabrics which need gentler handling, i don't know how strong they are though or you could place a sock over the item and then the peg
I have a peg-less clothes line, it grips the clothes. I bought it for travelling from an outdoor shop, Cotswold Leisure I think.
i dont get peg marks with plastic pegs. wooden ones u do. alternative invest in a tumble dryer helps cut down on the ironing as well
Use an iron you lazy bugger
For shirts, blouses, etc., I use "line lock" hangers which were designed for drip-drying when the first drip-dry/non-iron shirts became available. We bought them years ago from local shops, then from Lakeland. Not sure that Lakeland do them anymore - probably satisfied the available market. I have never had one come off the line even in high winds, and of course, no peg marks.
Spread two lines of nylon or others together and twist them until they are very firm and can grip the clothing between the lines. Thus you do away with the pegs.
new safety pins
I didn't know you could get pegless lines, but I'll be on the lookout for one of those. I use plastic pegs from asda, they're big chunky ones and don't leave as much of a mark as others I've used but unfortunately they do leave a small mark.
