If I burned sauce in a pot, is there any way to remove all of the burnt food?
Question:I tried letting the pot soak with soap and hot water for two nights in a row and have also been scrubbing and scrapping. There is still a bit of black food at the bottom still which I would like to remove. Thanks!
Answers:
Put a softener sheet in it and let it soak in hot water. Use a straight edge razor blade to slide under the burn and it should come right off. if you have some oven cleaner, spray on let stand for about ten minutes then use the razor blade to get it off.
Try boiling water in the pan.. and then dump the water and use a spatula to scrape out the remaining black.
Put soapy water in the pan and place it on the stove over medium hear. Let the soapy water simmer for a few minutes and that should loosen the remaining stuck food. Good luck!
I cover it with dishwasher soap like Cascade or Electrosol, not dishwashing soap.
Run the water till its as hot as possible and put enough water in to cover the food. Let sit overnight.
Should come off fairly easy!
Have you tried putting a bunch of water in the pot and boiling it for a while. It helps to break down some of the stuff.
Also, maybe vinegar will work.hmm its an acid, kind of weak, but if you let it soak in vinegar it might help.
cook some rhubarb in the pot all the acid in the fruit peels off the burned stuff
soak pan in straight vinegar, its amzing and really works
Easy off oven cleaner will clean it off in a snap
Put hot water in the pot and add a fabric softener sheet let it sit for about an hour, it softens any dried on or cooked on residue. This really works, I first tried it when I burned lasagna , and it was like charcoal stuck on an aluminum pan.
Put baking soda in the pan and water. Boil it on the stove. Then let it cool and scrub with a nylon pad if it is Teflon or steel wool soap pad if it is stainless steel.
If that doesn't work You can try oven cleaner on it!
Depending on the size of the pan, pour 1/4 to 1 cup of table salt into the pan and add water. Bring it to a boil and watch as the burnt pieces float to the top!
Let me know if you try the dryer sheet remedy though...i've never heard of it but it may work better than the salt :-)
Good Luck,

For major burned crud, I fill the pan 1/2 full of water, add a tablespoon of Cream of Tarter (available on the spice aisle at your grocery store) and boil for 15 mins. When you dump the water out, the burned bits will follow!! I swear by this, have been using it for years!
You could also heat up tomato sauce -- the acidity in the tomatoes works better than Cascade anyday!
Boil water in the pan. Should loosen it so you can wash it.
Well, depending on HOW burned on it is, and if it's a non stick pot (don't do this if it is!) you could always try an SOS pad on it.
