How do I get tree sap off leather in my car?
Question:A friend got in my car after leaning against a tree and ended up leaving a large patch of sap on the leather upholstery. Every product I have looked at like Goo Gone and Goof Off says not to use it on leather. Help!
Answers:
A good foam leather cleaner should solve this problem. Try LTT Maxi Cleaner. If this does not work you will need to consult a leather specialist as anything stronger than this will almost cetianly damage the finish on your leather and it will need to be replaced once the damage has been rectified.
Please do not use WD40 as this will almost certainly remove the finish on your leather.
lick it
Try WD-40. It won't hurt the leather and it's great for dissolving sticky stuff.
Well, like things dissolve each other--so, water will remove sugary messes, and WD-40 will remove grease. But sap? Why not try a little Pine-Sol. It is pine resin and esters dissolved in a compatible solution. If the theory holds true, it should work. The other manufacturers caution you against using the product on leather because it can stain UNTREATED leather in particular, but I would venture that Goo-Gone (NOT GOOF OFF!!) would work if the leather has been treated--and car leathers, which are often red or tan or black, often have.
try using ice to harden it and then you may be able to simply peel it up
