How do I clean a steel pan that has burnt coating on bottom?

Question:Cherry sauce burnt to bottom of pan.

Answers:
Put electric dish washing detergent in it and soak over night. The next morning ,just a little brush or scrub pad an you're done. My favorite cleaning tip.

Oven cleaner.
Use a spray-on oven cleaner, & let it soak in.
But read the directions carefully, they're dangerous.
Rinse with water the next day, repeat if needed.
First l'm not sure if your talking inside or the bottom outside, if inside boil hot water in it then rub with an sos pad in circular motions not steel wool, and if outside soak in hot soapy water and again sos pad to rub off. hope that has helped. Nancy
DON'T use oven cleaner. It's toxic.

Boil some water and baking soda in the pan, cover it while still hot, turn off the heat, and leave it overnight.

Most of the stuff will scrape off (nylon or wooden scraper). Then use a steel wool pad or green Scotchbrite scrubby for the rest.
if you have allergies or don't want to fool around with oven cleaners. fill the pot half way with water and boil. that will loosen up the coating. after that, pour out the water and remove what you can with a spoon. if all is not gone, use a nice amount of dawn and let it soak over night with hot tap water. in the morning continue manipulating the burnt places with a dishrag until all is gone. it may be lengthy, but I personally can't stand a lot of chemicals.
Hi Walter.Steep the pan in a salt water solution. Then gently clean with a soft Steelo soap pad.
Pour a cup of ammonia into the pan and seal it into a plastic garbage bag. Put it somewhere out of the way for at least three days. The burnt on sauce should come right off. I've taken burnt on grease off broiler pans like this and made them look new with a minimum of scrubbing.
Sprinkle in at least a 1/4 inch layer of baking soda. Cover with cold water deep enough to cover however high the burn is on the sides, and stir a little. Let sit overnight. In the morning you should be able to wipe most of the burn out with a cloth. Then use SOS on any left overs. Works every time, is non-toxic, easy and cheap.
Boil a can of soda (coke works best) in it. The acid from the soda and heat will clean it.
Burnt food is stuck in pan... Cover the stuck foodstuffs with warm soapy water, allow to soak for some time, then boil for 10 minutes, allow it to cool, then use a soft cloth, or a nylon scourer if stubborn, and warm, soapy water.
