Does anyone know how to whiten bedsheets (white) that are a poly/cotton blend. Bleaching hasn't worked.?
Question:I have tried bleach and hot water, but they are still yellow!
Answers:
Soak them in Biz activated Non-chlorine bleach with a couple of drops of Mrs. Stewart's Bluing for extra whiteness. The bleaching is yellowing the polyester fiber.
The best thing I ever found was OxyClean. Get the powder and put it in with your laundry detergent. IT WORKS WONDERS. It even gets koolaid stains out of carpets that has been there for years! No joke...you should try it.
Try hanging it wet in the sun. I have also heard that soaking in a solution of peroxide works...
boil in lemon juice (from real lemons) and Mule 20
Add some Borax soap powder to the regular soap you use.
Soak sheets in the machine in hot water and 1/2 to 3/4 cup of automatic dishwasher detergent (CASCADE) even the generic kind works overnight and then wash as usual.. I used this on my nursing uniforms and keep them white.
OXY CLEAN?
Try soaking them in hot water and oxyclean.. But depending on how old the sheets are u might just have to start over , have you thought about dying them a different color?
