How do i get motivated and stay motivated to clean my house?!?

Question:I have a one year old and expecting a new born next month. im constantly tired and my house is starting to get a little overwhelming

Answers:
I like to use a timer. Set it for ten or fifteen minutes, and just work on one room. Of course, when pregnant, you might try just five minutes at a time. Then sit down and have a few big sips of water or a little snack.

I like to have a set time to tidy up toys - I do about ten minutes before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and this really helps a lot. If the floor is already cleared off, it's much easier to find the motivation to vacuum.

While pregnant, you will need to lower your standards ALOT. In my "normal life" I like to change all the linens once a week. Well, I realized that no one would die if I only did it every two weeks while I'm gestating. The same goes for mopping, etc.

One thing that helped me was the idea of "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing WRONG." Sometimes, you get so overwhelmed because doing it perfectly is such a huge job. The next time you vacuum, for example, try to just do it for 5 minutes per room - stop yourself from moving furniture, going over and over one bit of fluff, etc. *Some* cleaning is better than none! It does help your morale to just make a dent in the cleaning.

Finally, be sure that you're taking all the proper vitamins. I like "Supermom" vitamins with spirulina. They give me a lot more energy than my old prenatals. Keep well hydrated, and nibble on healthy snacks throughout the day.

Best of Luck!

if you do some each day and keep it up i can have mind done in 2 hours as i clean every day and don't let it get ahead of me
works great and is always done
Clean when the kids are down for nap.. Have your oldest help you by making it a game..The toddler can pick up toys help you get clothes out of the dryer, help load the dishwasher. Also, don't be too bothered by it..Try cleaning in 5 minute intervals every 30 minutes.do what needs to be done the most..
I used to have a lot of problems keeping the house clean. I would put off all cleaning until one day a week when I would be stuck cleaning the house for about 7-9 hours straight. THIS IS BAD. The best thing to do is do little bits of cleaning here and there. Here's what I do:
-Occasionally when you are done washing your hands in the bathroom, wet the towel you used to wipe your hands off and give the counter a quick wipe down
-after you finish with each dish, rinse it off and put it in the dishwasher instead of piling them up in the sink
-presort your laundry by having 3 seperate piles/bins: one for whites, colors, and towels that way when it comes time to do laundry it only takes you like 10 seconds to load the washer
-fold clothes while you watch tv and during commercial breaks dust the living room really quick

there's alot more you can do but those are just a few examples that have really helped me. I hope you figure out something that works well for you too! Congrats on the new baby : )
Do a little bit at a time and try to work it in all the time. Here's a few ideas:
*Leave a basket or other container in your most used room that is for stuff that belongs elsewhere in your house. When you leave the room, take the basket with you and put things away as you make you way through your house.
*When you cook, make more than enough and freeze individual portions. That way you have meals ready (saving time from cooking and cleaning up)
*If you are just feeling lazy and want to be a couch potato, do your housework during commercials. You'll be amazed how much you can get done in 5 minutes.
*Clean up as you go along (kind of difficult for a mom with a 1 year old). That way things don't get piled up and overwhelm you
*As soon as your kid can walk, make it a game to have him pick up after himself. And only allow him to play with one toy at a time. That way he's used to putting away one toy before he can play with the next.
*Do dishes as soon as you are done with them. You won't have to scrub stuff clean and it will help you stay on top of the housework.
*I have a cleaning schedule that I follow. I clean the kitchen and bathroom on odd days and do the other rooms on even days. When I get home I know I have a couple of rooms to clean, but I don't get overwhelmed because I'm thinking about how I have to get the whole house clean today!
* Have separate laundry hampers for light clothes, dark clothes, whites and others. You won't waste time sorting clothes and you can tell when you have a full load of laundry easier
It doesn't get much better ,hun... I work fulltime and have 2 grrls and hate spending my weekends cleaning.. but do..
