don't use asetone or nailpolish remover it will ruin whatever the nail polish is on! I would just try to scrub like **** for hours!

Go to home depot, they have this stuff called "Goof-off" it is a miracle worker, won't hurt the carpet but will take the polish right off! good luck
If you can't throw it away and start with something new - I'd initially try VERY a very small amount of NON Acetone remover - say with a Q-Tip - do a test area first to make sure you're not damaging fabric/carpet.good luck
Remove Nail Polish Stains From:
Carpet/Synthetic, Carpet/Wool
Scrape as much of the excess as you can without forcing it into the pile. Apply amyl acetate to the stain and cover with an absorbent pad dampened with amyl acetate. Keep moist and let stand for about 15 minutes, blotting occasionally. Scrape to help loosen the stain. Flush carefully with a dry-cleaning solvent or Afta Cleaning Fluid. Allow to thoroughly dry.

This is for the fabric nailpolish stain, Nail polish
Sponge with polish remover or banana oil. Wash. If stain remains, sponge with denatured alcohol to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Wash again. Do - not use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics.
Good Luck !
This listerally just happened to me, i spilled bright red nailpolish all over a cream carpet but if you pour nail polish remover on it right away and SCRUB for a long time it should come out. at first when i scrubbed the color spread but then i got a clean cloth and resoaked it and it started to come out. now its only a little hint of pink left. so after i soak it once more and scrub again it should come out completely. good luck!!
oh and when i say soak i mean soak, i used an entire bottle of nail polish remover
I would use nail polish remover. But I would start with q tip and not a rag. You will have to dab at it at first but it will take it out.
