Why are toilet seats used in comparisons with amounts of bacteria?
Question:...when there is very little bacteria there. If you think about it, very little fecal matter will ever come into contact with the seat, and hands (which usually carry a lot) very rarely touch it. So, it's not surprising to hear that a door handle, computer keyboard or chopping board has more bacteria.

You raise an excellent point! Most people don't think of where germs are more plentiful like remote controls or telephones (places that never get cleaned).
But germs do get on toilet seats when you flush the toilet without the lid on, in fact I wouldn't be surprized if the germs still get there from the "mist" when its closed. Thats why they tell you to cover the lid before flushing, imagine what gets on the counters (on your toothbrush) if you don't.?
You make a good point, but I'm still not sitting on a public toilet seat..=)
