How much have you paid to have your carpets professionally cleaned?
Question:I'm not talking about the Rug Doctor rentals, I mean the companies that have large trucks and use hot water extraction. If you have used these services before, what amount of carpet did they clean, how much did it cost, and were you satisfied?
Any personal experience with furnace and duct cleaners would also be appreciated. Thank you!

When my mom moved into a 2 bedroom condo I had Sears come in to clean the carpets. I am unsure of the room sizes but they are average for a condo (livingroom-dining room combo, small hallway and 1 bedroom) I believe the cost was around $250-300. In all honesty, I was very unimpressed with both the quality and stain removal. I used to have an inexpensive carpet cleaning machine (add cleaner and empty water) and I was much happy with the results of that.
Stanley Steemer always runs a special that's about $99 for 3 rooms I think. They do an "okay" job, but it's not great. I had them do our carpets once, and they had to come back out because they did such a lousy job. Good luck.
We just had our carpet in the living room and hallway cleaned and some kind of teflon put on it to repel dirt and stains. The living room is 16 x 14 and the hallway is about 15 x 4. It cost $100. I was very satisfied with the cleaning and he does a great job. If we find a spot, all we have to do is call and he will come back and get it out. I live in the midwest USA.
I have no experience with furnace and duct cleaners.
One time there was a man cleaning the carpet at a house that was going to be sold. I went and asked him how much they charged. He said he could come and clean my carpet after he was done. He cleaned 2 bdrms and my liv. room for $25.00, but none of the furniture was moved.
