Recommendations On Good Odor Removal Products?

Question:I'm moving into an apartment in June and would like to do my own cleaning before I move in. Any suggestions for a cleaning product that will help get out an old musty smell? I’m thinking of just your regular places to get it like Target, Walmart, or a grocery store. I know there are many cleaners out there, just wondering if someone had some personal experience with any specific ones to help me out. Thank you!

better idea - I found the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. It works so much better than all those sprays, plug ins and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just put a few of these around the house near problem areas. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying

The best way to get rid of musty smell is to air the whole place out for as long as you can. Open windows and turn on fans. Windy days are awesome for airing homes. As for cleaning products, I would get as much as you can. Also open the lid and smell them to find one that smells nice. There are so many varieties.
depending on what you are trying to clean, baking soda will absorb and remove most odors. For things like counters, sinks, etc mix baking soda and water until it forms a thin paste. Also for a room that just has a smell you can leave a few open containers of baking soda around to absorb air-born odors. If all else fails try spraying febreze frequently until the odor is gone.
I like borax. It is a great cleaner and leaves a fresh smell without an overpowering smell like say pinesol. You can also use it instead of a cleansing powder in the bathroom and kitchen - will not scratch plastic or fiberglass.
Pine-sol. Fill a bucket with Pine sol ( there are other types product with different scent, pick your favorite). Mix the cleaning solution in a bucket , then dip a sponge mop into the mixture, and mop the walls first, then the floor. Pour a capful of Pine-sol (or you equivalent) into all the drains. Use the same mix to give the cabinets a quick wipe.
Then the house should smell great.
