Should I iron a lace tablecloth?
Question:with a blotter cloth or not? Steam or not?
Answers:
If it's an older heirloom item, be very careful. If you do, definitely cover it with another cloth, a sheet or cotton cloth that doesn't have any sort of raised texture. (the dryer sheet sounded like a nifty idea)
Also, test the iron temperature first on a less visible corner or the underside. Start too low and gradually build up to what works without damaging the lace.
Would avoid steam if at all possible, but if you need it, same as before - test a less visible area.
When I iron my lace tablecloth, I use an old dryer sheet between the iron and the tablecloth to be sure it does not burn and does not create snags.
