Answers:
One thing I use in this situation is the dry foam carpet and upholstery cleaner especially for pets. It breaks down the stain and keeps the brown ring away without wetting the mattress too much.
Peace.

at walmart in the as seen on tv section there is a box they sell that comes with urine b gone spray and a blue light to see in the dark. it works on pets, people, on floors, bathrooms, beds, where ever.
They also make a spray to remove pet urine. I have used this in a pinch on "little accidents" of the human kind as well.
Using a product that breaks down the enzymes, and of course drying well and vacuuming.
Perfect time of year to put out in the sunshine for a day as well if you have a place..

Dilute the area with water until the stain is gone . Blot the excess with towels ; and when it is dry , turn the matress over . I wouldn't use strong chemicals like pine-sol for a child's sleeping area ( or an adult for that matter ) . It might make him/her sick .
Poor kid. Dampen the spot. Sprinkle borax (found in laundry aisle) over it. Rub the borax into the area. Let dry and brush or vacuum to remove the dry borax. Borax is a great natural multi-purpose household cleaner and laundry booster. There are all kinds of uses listed on the box. I have 2 little boys at home and I use it all the time for most of my cleaning.
