How do you remove old cat pee from a carpet?
Question:My mom had a cat and it peed on her carpet a long time ago, she needs ideas to remove it.
Answers:
You can never completely get it out. Not even from young cats. You usually end up having to replace the carpet.
Rent a rug doctor or similar steam cleaner. Use a carpet detergent with a fragrence (not odourless). I clean carpets all the time this way.

go to any store where they have cleaning products. If the carpet is white, try bleaching it, it worked for me. I had the same problem. Also see if they have any products to remove stains. good luck!

Cat pee is one of the nastiest things on the planet. You can cover it up with cleaners, etc. - but it will always smell.
rip the carpet out!
Soap will sort of burn it there for ever so if you've put soap, it's probably impossible to really remove it all. The only trick that worked for me it water, you rinse it thoroughly outside and let it dry.

you can disuse it but you can never get rid of it ( eucalyptus oil ) pull the carpet up

First you need the cat urine remover, it can be found at wal-mart. Second you will need to rent a steam cleaner and do the entire carpet, make sure the detergent has a pet odor element in it's contents. After you get done and can still smell the urine it means it has soaked all the way through the carpet to the underling pad and that is trouble.you may have to replace the carpet and pad as well.
I would first try oxi clean and if that didn't work I'd rent a rug cleaner. If that didn't work I'd go to a pet store and ask them what would get it out. Then I'd get the rug replaced if I couldn't get it out.
most old stains cannot be removed. you can try hydrogen peroxide. sometimes it works on old stains. never use bleach! even on white carpet. the peroxide will not bleach the carpet (if it is man-made nylon, olefin, berber, polyester, etc.) only the stain. hope this works. :) if you can get the salon strength clear developer that's even better just be sure to wear rubber gloves!
