Help! Im moving, new place smells of cig. smoke, how can I get rid of it?
Question:New place smells of cig. smoke, please help, what can I use?
Answers:
old school's tip of coffee grounds (fresh) works well, as does washing the walls and ceilings down with a Swiffer Mop... and then leaving pie pans of vinegar or milk out, to absorb any lingering odor. Empty them everyday and just keep re-filling them until the smell of cigarette smoke is gone.
Either one will even remove the smell of paint in a freshly painted room - so it does work.
You especially need to wash any curtains, and leave the windows and doors open for as long as you can.
I hope this helps...
wash curtains and paint walls and clean the carpet
ive had good luck with orange cleaner as well as fabreeze air effects
to get rid of the ashtray smell.
open the house right up - all windows & doors
let the wind blow through it all day and night - if you have to
let the sun shine through the place
wipe walls down with either bicarb or soda and water or try vinegar watered down another good one is lemon juice they are all natural products
they are the best options - they get rid of odours - cause the smoke will be in just about every god damn thing -
wash all curtains
mop the floors with vinegar - (white vinegar)
after a wk or so - airing it out daily it should escape
wash everything down with Oder Ban.
Wash the walls and ceiling (if possible) and have any carpets professionally cleaned before using an Ozone generating air purifying machine for a few days to oxidize the source of the odors. Ozone will neutralize many organic odors.
Sprinkle dry fresh coffee grounds (from a can) on the carpet and wait 10 or 12 hours and Then vaccuum it up.Also put open containers of baking soda(like pie pans) in various places.
