Is it more cost efficient to do your laundry at night?
Question:
Answers:
Yes. It is called non-peak hours. Much more power being used during basic business day-time hours which are peak hours. After 5PM usually when non-peak starts & power company be less likely "overworked".
That's what I have heard!
Yes, it is, because utility rates are lower at night. Check with your utility companies to find out what time their rates drop, then you can plan on what time to do your laundry!
it is cooler at night so the heat generated by the washer and dryer will not add so much heat like it would in the hottest part of the day...if you do laundry in the hottest part of the day then your house gets hotter and the A/C runs more and has a harder job to do to keep you cool and the demand for electricity is higher at the hottest parts of the day and may be more costly to the customer too peak usage of power and water...water is usually during the morning hours just before work and power is usually during the hottest part of the day...just try not to do it during peak usage...for costs and comfort in the home and conservation.
Believe it or not, utility costs are cheaper at night, than during the high peak hours during the day. But nothing can replace getting a energy efficient washer and dryer. This will safe you money, no matter what time of day you wash.
Yes, it is... I've been doing this for a year now and my electric bill has been cut in half... Also, if you don't run your major appliances all at once that helps as well... For example I run a load of laundry at night, and put it in the dryer before I go to bed... I pretreat/fill the washer tub w/ the next load and do not run it until the next morning. I also run my dishwasher on the time delay cycle at night so it's running around 4am, the water is being heated while we are sleeping mine as well use it... It does take some planning, but I save roughly $100 bucks a month doing this so to me it's worth it...
Yes. During the Summer when energy usage for colling is highest during daylight hours, start your laundry after dark!
Also, use the sunlight to dry your clothes, and save on the energy used to run the dryer!
