How to get sticky residue sterling silver flatware?
Question:I bought a 10 piece flatware set at a sale, but it was grouped by scotch-type tape. The tape is gone, but the lines and gunk from the tape remain. Any thoughts? It's also pretty tarnished. I'll take any advice.

they make a certain dip for silver..you jsut dip your silver in it..and its abolished of all tarnish..rub and the grime will come off as well
you can buy this at walmart...kmart etc..menards anyplace such as thse stores
id tell ya the name of it but i cant think of it..its right on the tip of my tongue too!!lol
Use a solvent like GooGone, lacquer thinner, mineral spirits, or acetone to get the glue residue off. Then rinse them and use a silver polish to clear the tarnish.
Use toothpaste. It has much of the same ingredients as the more expensive silver polishers, and you already have it in your house (hopefully).
Smooth a thin layer on with your finger. Wait a couple of minutes then rub it off with an old t-shirt. Can't hurt to try before spending more, right?
Oh - PS - for the caked on tape - I have had a lot of luck with WD-40 and/or rubbing alcohol for that.
gently rub with eucalptus oil
