I've been dog sitting for my sister. How do I get rid of the pet store smell in my house?
Question:My house reeks of dog and poop (No, her dog isn't yet housebroken, YUCK). What is the best way to get rid of the stench?

Most pet shops have a deodorizing solution for puppy accidents that you can use to spot treat the carpet and furniture. After attending to the localized areas, sprinkle baking soda over the whole carpet and let it absorb the odor as much as possible. Vacuum carpet thoroughly. If odor remains, shampoo carpet with deodorizing shampoo. Febreeze does not work on pet odors.

Last i knew..you have to give the dog back to Sis... then sanitize everything in the wash machine with a little bleach and tide. for the Carpet and other stuff Febreez it open up some windows... let it air out. Light some scented candles. and wait for the smell to fade away. There was a site that had some air freshner that got rid of any smell... uhm try www. the flipside soap factory.com see if they still have it.

after removing all the mess and cleaning spray a mixture of vinegar and water. Vinegar in the wash removes cat urine smell so I reckon it could do the same for dog smell.
First, open your windows wide, rent/buy a carpet cleaner, but first spray your furniture and carpet down with vinegar down really well, let it sit a bit, then steam clean your carpet really well, (furniture too) and then as soon as it dries Fabreeze everything as best you can.
