What is the best way to wash a feather duvet?
Question:My 6 yr old had a BIG accident this afternoon :-(
Answers:
take to dry cleaners because it will smell like dead chicken.
Wash it on the gentle cycle with warm water and a detergent; but be sure to tumble dry it with a tennis ball or shoe; and dry it about three times longer than you think you need to. They take a long time to dry, and if you don't they mat down and never quite come back up.
A dry cleaner really is the best way, though.
you can't wash feathers...they compact and will not dry...you need to dry clean it.
Check the label first, if it has not got washable feathers (they are treated so that they do not absorb the water) then it is off to the dry cleaners with it.
I tried washing mine, and it took 4 days to dry! Plus it never regained it's shape, and smelled really bad, like a wet dog, only much worse! Take my advice, drop it off at the dry cleaners!
