How do I clean a futon mattress?
Question:I would like to know how to clean a futon mattress without damaging it or bending it out of shape.and I'd prefer to do it myself rather than get someone else to do it for me.
Any ideas, suggestions.?

I like those foam carpet and upholstery cleaners. You simply spray them on, let them dry and vacuum up the remains. Then you can use Fabreeze to take away any chemical smell left by the cleaner.
Hi - I bought some upholstery cleaner from Tesco and used that, worked a treat! You just scrub it with a cloth to get any 'stains' off and away you go. Hard work tho :O) Hope this helps x
Try and borrow a Dyson, unless you have one. I hoover my mattress and the amount of dust that came out of it was astonishing!.
Not sure how you would deal with a spillage on one, maybe try some sort of foam upholsery cleaner, but always so a test area first.
Have you got access to a steamer, that would sanitize it aswell as cleaning it.
You should be able to scrub the cover with detergent and a nail brush as the cotton filling won't be damaged. If drying is a problem try carpet shampoo.
hit it with a tennis racket
when you bought your futon do you remember if there was a cleaning instructions attached ? I would use a steam cleaner ,but first you need to make sure that the fabric is washable.
