Clothes smell - can it be removed?
Question:Can mildew smells and any smell from clothes be washed away? Or will the clothes still smell of the old smell? For example if my clothes have built up a lot of smells and odours (odors for USA) can they be removed for ever? Also if the washing machine smells (laundrette) can i still get an effective wash, because i havent got the money to clean them all?
Can i just put vinegar and baking soda in there when i wash them? Do i put baking soda with the detergent - i now use Bold or Surf. Does too much detergent make the clothes dirty?
ULTIMATELY CAN THIS SMELLS BE REMOVED?
I HAVE ASKED THE QUESTION BEFORE BUT I STILL WANT MORE HELP AND I DONT KNOW IF THE CLOTHES ARE CLEAN?

Make sure your washing machine is clean and you have removed all the crap from the machine (there will be a pipe down which all the dirty water and rubbish is sent - clean the pipe. Read the manual if necessary to clean this pipe). Use a good detergent. Wash at a high temperature. Dry outside. Steam iron at a high temperature. Wear for a day then repeat the process. Do this about 3 times. If the smell doesn't go away, it's time to buy new clothes or a new machine.

I think you have done enough to clean your clothes but if you think that is still not clean then maybe it is economically better to buy new clothes.
Steam wash the cloths and the use febreze
A hot wash (if appropriate to the clothes) followed by drying outdoors on a line(if available) should sort the problem.
Bold 2 in 1 is really good. I use it for washing my gym clothes (as you can imagine they stink of BO after a workout at the gym) and it always works fine. You can also use fabric softener, the ones with really strong smell.
There are soaps that help as well such as Vanish.
if washed properly then the smell should go. i use areil powder and lenor fab conditioner and my washing always smells nice.
Yes just wash at 60 degrees. Unless it is turps it will wash out and smell divine!
Most of the time my clothes stink from sweat..so what i do is soak it with water in a basin for a night. then wash it the next day.try it...
There are a few really strong smelling washing powders on the market that will get rid of the smell of mildew off your clothes.Aslong as you wash them at 60c.Also if you dont manage to wash them all that smell make sure you keep the clean washing away from the smelly washing!!
Try using Ariel colour and style,with one of the lenour fabric conditioners,the yellow one is very strong and should elimanate the smell in your laundry.Aslong as your clothes are washed at 60c it should get rid of the bacteria that are causing the bad smells.
You will also have to find a place to keep your laundry after you have washed it that isnt going to make it smell again,if you have damp in a room that is causing this smell keep them in a different room.
Your clothes are clean if washed at the right temperature,and like i said using an overpowering smelling fabric conditioner normally does the trick!! Good luck!!
Hi...I would first recommend running an empty cycle in your washing machine with a cup of bleach, that should clean the washer out appropriately, so it doesn't affect your clothes.
- I have forgotten about clothes in my washer before and they were left wet in my hot garage for a couple days and smelled so awful. I put a little extra detergent in and washed the clothes on a hot cycle and it all game out. It might help to wash in small loads. Good luck!
well.. wash them in a washing machine and use a different powder.. or use more powder.. if they stilll smell.. then hand wash them and leave them to soak...
Also by putting an air freshner in your wardrobe might keep your wardrobe smelling fresher.
a product called 'Fabreeze' it is used for removing odours from dry materials such as chairs, clothes, curtains etc, but I don't know if it will work in a washing machine. The Vinegar quantity is 3 Tablespoons to be added to 1 pint of water , so you can put it in the rinsing dept of your machine I should think. Best of luck.
First clean out your washing machine with vinegar and baking soda and laundry detergent. Run a cycle. of this empty.
Use Era laundry detergent and add 1/2 cup baking soda to the load, this will take out the smell from the clothes. Use dryer sheets when drying. make sure that you are only using the correct amount of detergent if you use too much it will make your clothes stiffer and puts a coating on them.
1. Pre wash with Dettol the purple one that smells nice not the brown one that smells disgusting. This will distroy bacteria and mildew causing smell.
2. Use Ariel - the one that contains Fabreze.
3. Use the Lenor that contains Fabreze.
Wash as hot as you dare.
won't come out after you have laundered it, next time take and put baby powder or corn starch on the spot on both sides of the fabric leave for a while brush off if it need more reapply until it is out
