What is the best way to keep the colors in my shirts when I washed them?

one good way is to use cold water it keeps the colors from running. but another thing you can do is to use color safe detergents like colorox colorsafe bleach keeps colors brighter.
wash them first off in white vinegar, this will set the colors
you can look on shirt dye package for amount but a couple cups in a full load, and a cup in a small load should do the trick, then wash normally after
I notice if I hang dry my shirts the color does not fade - hardly at all. Wash in cold water.
instead of vinegar you could just wash your clothes in cold water and on a knits cycle or the gentle one that is on your particular washer wash and rinse cold maybe cold warm
use clorox 2 for colors. it works great and smells wonderful
1. DON'T use hot water, only warm.
2. DON'T use bleach, unless safe for coloureds.
3. DON'T leave them out in the sun too long and ALWAYS turn them inside out to preserve the colour.
4. DON'T dry them in a dryer unless no other alternative as dryers fade colours too.
5. DO follow all fabric and care instructions on the garments for the best results.
6. DO use a good spray starch before ironing, shirts will look good and it helps keep 'body' in the fabric-it looks fresher, brighter and newer.
