Does it bother you when people use the decorative towels instead of the hand towel placed next to the sink?
Question:When you are a guest at someones house and you use their bathroom, do you use their decorative towels hanging up nicely or the designated hand towel placed next to the sink?
Does it bug any one, besides me, when you see your array of expensive towels all messed up or maybe tooth paste staind on them? Who else gets slightly irrated that people don't use the clean towel closer to the sink?

I find it irritating. If there is a designated, plain towel set out for use, shouldn't it be self explanatory to not use the decorative towels. They're decorative towels because they're there for decoration!! No one wants those towels destroyed or dirty looking, it takes away from the decoration factor.
This is why I only use plain colored, normal everyday towels in my bathroom. No confusion! Haha. There's two hand towels, and I make sure clean ones are set out when guests arrive. That way if they get messed up, no worry. =)
no
Not me - if I didn't want someone to use the towel I wouldn't hang it in the bathroom!!

Yes, I know what you mean.
Decorative towels are a difficult concept to some people.
They know not of their beauty & they joy it brings to your life.
Why, why, why? ☺
the one placed over the sink. I have had people use the decoritive towels and it bothers me so i just toke them out of the bathroom.
Yes but you can't stand there and hand them a towel.
MISSY.....lol girl, I have guest towells and won't let anyone in my family use them and then I get really bugged when guests actually use them!!...good point! I will try to loosen up on this one....lol.
nope, do you have plastic slip covers on your living room furniture?
For that very reason, although it's nice to have expensive display towels when you have guests, I now do the complete opposite. Now when I have guests, I put regular towels in the bathroom. I know it defeats the purpose but I'd rather do that then have my expensive stuff used and abused.
For drying my hands in a home I am visiting I tend to use the hand towel that is placed close to the sink.
A guest in MY home can use whatever towel that pleases the person, if they find it set out in the guest bathroom.
If there are towels that I don't want people to use, then I would put them away.
WTF is a "decorative towel"?
If it is a towel hanging in the bathroom, I will probably use it. If these are some kind of decorative cloth item that only by chance resembles a towel, then move it out of the bathroom, or put it in a frame or something.
Sheesh.
I suppose you get bent out of shape when someone uses the decorative soap balls shaped like little flowers and/or fruit? Or when someone sits down on the "good sofa"?
Too much time with dollhouses, kiddo.
Are you Paris Hilton ? lol sounds like a dilemma she would have. But serious like F. Perdurabo said if you don't want the fancy towels used don't put the fancy towels out and they wont get used ;-)
I use which ever is cleaner. sometimes the people with the towel next to the sink have had that towel there for weeks and its nasty, so i use the clean decorative towel.
If you going to get upset about a "expensive" towel getting "ruined" by tooth paste or water and or soap then maybe you shouldn't have bought them ... or kept them in your own personal bathroom... I mean come on...aren't towels there to be used?... do you put fruit on your table just to look at? no then why do you put towels in the bathroom just to look at?
I hate when people do that. So I stopped putting them in the bathroom. Now I just hang simple ones that I find at Linens and Things. If they get dirty then wash them. But the ones with the little rhinestones. I don't get anymore.
Yes! And I get even madder when they use the decorative toilet paper.
It bothers me if my immediate family uses them but if a guest uses them - I put them out for the guests - I hope they are impressed. Life is to short to worry about hand towels.
I'm constantly confused by this one when I go to someone's house and use their bathroom. In my house, we don't have decorative towels and if the towel is hanging on the towel rack or towel ring, that's the one that you use to dry your hands on, etc. A lot of places I go and will stand there and think about which towel I should use...the one laying on the sink that is balled up, overly damp, a probably funky from over use...or the nice, clean, dry towel hanging on the rod. For some folks (like me) a towel is just a towel...if it's hanging in the bathroom it is there to be used not looked at.
You sad, sad people.
I can't control myself, I've got to get in on this one. I fully understand your dilemma, but it's not something to get worked up over. I have people who regularly visit my house, and they head straight for the kitchen sink to wash their hands. They even come out of the bathroom to wash their hands in the kitchen. Then they ignore the paper towels right there, and wipe their hands on their jeans. When I tell the same people to wash up in the bathroom, they come dripping out of the bathroom to get the same paper towel they wouldn't use if they'd washed in the kitchen. Makes no sense to me. Trouble is, my own husband is one of those who heads for the kitchen sink every time, and he doesn't care if part of our dinner is in there draining.
