Answers:
Eyeglass lenses are rarely glass these days and when they claim “scratch resistant” … HA! They will scratch….

ALWAYS use a cloth made for eyeglass lenses & plain water…

if you have ultra high index lenses and /or paid more than $100 for your lenses (not inc frames)… invest in a Automatic Eyeglass Cleaner – to protect them, they are awesome!

a mild soap and warm water, dry with a clean towel I fpund a web site to back me up, I hope this helps.

What's the best way to clean my glasses? Two things adhere to lenses - dust and grease. Soapy water (without lotion) will dissolve both. Always dry your glasses with a clean soft cotton cloth - never use paper products. They contain wood pulp and may scratch your lenses.
DO NOT USE SOAP.

It can mess up your lenses. (I just picked up a pair of new glasses yesterday and the lady stressed that). Don't use soap or glass cleaner. They can be too strong for the lenses. Especially if you got special dent/scratch proof or non-reflective lenses.

Use a little warm water and a soft cloth if you don't have lense cleaner.
Personally, I got laser eye surgery and now its not a problem
I've had a lot of different types of lenses and special coatings over the years and have never had a scratch caused by cleaning them. I always wash them with very warm water and just a dab of liquid dishwashing soap. Dry with a soft towel or wash cloth that has NOT been washed and dried with fabric softener (the fabric softener will sometimes leave a film on the lense). Always try to clean your frames when you clean the lenses and never clean the lenses with paper products (towels, toilet paper, tissues).
I've worn glasses since i was 7 now I'm a lot more than 7 and in all those years I've tried different things the little cloth that comes with the specs is useless ,I've also tried the wet glass and soap that sometimes leaves them streaky marks blowing hot air on them and wiping is OK but i prefer to get a really soft cloth and rub (i use cotton underwear clean of course) I also found that steam works well
Because "glasses" are usually plastic, avoid anytthing that might scratch them or damage special coatings.
1) always "wet" clean them with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap (just ONE drop will do the job) or lense cleaning solution. Don't use Windex or alcohol because it might damage the coating.
2) never use paper towels or Kleenex to dry them. Use a soft lint-free cloth or a special microfiber lens cleaning cloth.
