If you are talking about cat piss, you have to buy enzymes that soak up the pheromones. You can get it from any pet store. Other than that, I don't know.
I guess a good start would be to not let the livestock relieve themselves in the human domain. I know, it's a radical idea.

shampoo the carpets use febreeze in the rooms that smell
ok my room mate has a dog that is old and it messes on the floor once in awhile...she takes windex window wash and srays that on it then soak it up with a rag.

You can add a citrus based cleaner in it to cut the smell of the vinegar, but the vinegar is what cuts the odor.. I used white vinegar and orange cleaner mixed with water to cut the smell and spots from a housebreaking puppy...or 4!
I have tried everything,but what seems to work best is if you have a steam cleaner, instead of putting the carpet shampoo in it use a cup of tide. It will even remove juice stains, blood, ink from your carpet plus is makes it smell really good
well my mom just found a book on the best baking soda cleaning tricks... some require vinegar but not all i dont recommend vinegar because it can bleach the material you use it on..put some baking soda and water in a spray bottle, shake it and spray and let sit for a couple minutes then take an old towel or rag and scrub and soak up the dampness(dont spray it too much or soak it just 2 sprays should be fine)

anyways if there isnt one particular spot sprinkle (dry) baking soda on the carpets, let it sit for 15minutes, then vacumm ...this worked in my car that smelled like mold(from the heat)
plain white vinegar will nuetralize the urine. be sure to rinse it all out with plain water
