High Efficiency washer detergent?
Question:Do I really need to use HE detergent in my new front load washer or is this a scam to make you buy more expensive detergent? Can't I just use a different quantity of regular detergent?
Answers:
You can use regular liquid or powder detergents in your front-loading washing machine. You must use less of it. For powders use about a quarter cup (not more!) for a regular load. Make sure the divider, if there is one, is placed for powders. For liquids, where HE or not, we use just enough to cover the bottom of the dispenser. Make sure the divider is placed for liquids.
Yes. I also have a front loading washer, and I didn't think that I would need the HE detergent either. But when you use regular detergent, there is extra suds in the washer, so your washer has to run longer to get them out. I would recommend using HE detergent, I like tide. Hope this helps :]
Its just a scam, i had tried that stuff and it had ruined a whole lot of things if you go online you can look up the best detergent for your needs.
The regular detergent would create too many suds, and would fail to dissolve properly -- so your clothes would end up with soap residue. Remember, your machine uses very little water to complete the wash cycle, so a special detergent formulation is required.
Using a small amount of regular detergent can reduce the residue problem, but your clothes wouldn't end up as clean as they could be.
I have an HE washer and I use the HE detergent because I found that the regular detergent doesn't get rinsed fully out of the clothes and has a strong detergent smell.
I bet if you used regular detergent and just cut back the amount by half - you'd be fine.
Don't listen to beachbabe its not a scam, you need to use the low sud detergent. If its the price your worried about check out Wal-Mart I've noticed you can get 64 loads for around 8 dollars. Not bad when you compare it with regular laundry detergent
