Do you dust after you vacuum or vacuum after you dust?
Question:Some people think that you should dust after you vacuum because the vacuum adds dust to your furniture when you are using it. Some people think you should vacuum after you dust to get all the dust off the floor. Also, do you dust in circular motions or one side to another?
Answers:
Dust after...the mites that live in the vac are still hanging around
I vacuum first
when I dust I don't get dust on the floor, it sticks to my rag
dust second
Dust first and in the direction of the grain of the wood.
Do both. Let me know when you're done. (just kidding). Go from side to side. Circular motion won't get in the corners.
I vacuum after dusting. I start dusting from the ceiling and work my way down and then vacuum to pick the dust up out of the floor. I also dust in circular motions. Just the way I was taught.
Dust after you vacuum so if any dust rises and settles you wil get it all
I dust 1st because it ends up on my floors. If you have the vacuum, it shouldn't throw dust back on your carpet. I have Central Vac and love it!
I vacuum first then dust. The only time I use a circular motion is when I use furniture polish. I normally just dust with a damp rag, then use furniture polish 3 or 4 times a year to moisturize the wood.
This came about from when they had paper bags, they weren't air tight and dust would billow out of them. But, it was always vacuum and dust.
