Laundry help; what's an all around good degreaser for clothes?
Question:I've tried Oxy-Wash. Didn't work. I use dish detergent right on the oil stains, & it helps but doesn't take the spot out. It is grease. What do you recommend?
Thanx.

dawn dishwashing detergent
There is a product called Grease Lightning that might do the trick. It is a great general cleaner/degreaser. Just don't use it on painted items.
Dawn dish washing liquid.Be sure to use ,"Dawn" It gets the grease out. Rub a Little into the spot and let set about 5 to 10 minutes ,than wash. It'll go. Bye
goo gone or grease lightning you should be able to buy it in your local supermarket or stores like walmart, target, k-mart. the goo gone is a orange liquid it works great my hubby is a mechanic in the Air Force and has trucked grease on my carpet before this stuff got it out.if you can't find it ask for it by name at the store.the grease lightning you can also find at an auto store
You can try Spray and Wash with Resolve Power or Mean Green. I have a 5 year old son who is a messy eater and I have to keep something like that handy all the time for his shirts.
I use a paste made of water an salt, if you want to you could add a bit of your normal soap powder as well ( depending on the colour fastness)
Apply to the problem area.
Allow to stand for 30 min.
Wash as usual adding 0.5 cup of white vinegar to the soap wash.
The hottest water possible along with Dawn dish detergent, let soak in first for several hours. Last resort use Fantastic cleaner and let soak, then launder with hot water.
did you try sunlight dish detergent right on the stain.
I have never had a problem with sunlight.
after you treat and wash with sunlight, if the stain is still there, try it one more time. If it's car grease, you have nothing to loose by then treating the garment in a mild solution of bleach for unbleachables and water.
blessings sawyer :)
Have you tried original "Dawn" dish detergent? It has to be Dawn. I used to get tire grime and marks out of jeans with it. Apply directly to stains, let set for a few minutes and wash as usual. Good Luck!
There is a product called "Awesome" . you can get it at the dollar store. My mother swore by it. I used it when I got car grease on my cream colored church suit. you just spray it on the stain and rub or use a wet washcloth. Wash as usual and it will come out.
Good Luck.
P.S. the "Greased Lightin" works as well But you have to be careful with certain fabrics.
Spot clean with Dawn dish detergent.
DeSolveIt
the best thing that i have found is Simple Green. I pre-treat the spot and add a 1/4 cup to my wash. It works for me .
there's a great product walmart carries called "Holy Cow" it's a biodegradeable, non toxic, cleanser, degreaser, stain remover, and stainless steel cleaner and more all in one!! and HOLY COW it actually does what it says! it's a miracle cleaner!! I use a couple sprays on my stains and it removes any thing from marker, paint, pen, grease, grass stains even pasta sause!! it's under $2 try it u won't be sorry!
mean green..use it for anything
If you have already ran it through the dryer then it probably will not come out. Sorry.
If dawn dish liquid won't work, then try "LA's Totaly Awsome". The sell it at wal-mart.
Put a 1/4 cup of BOTH simple green and dawn dishsoap in the laundry. If you want, before you wash the clothes, rub Dawn Power Dissolver on the stain and let it sit. If the stain isn't gone, don't dry it (it will set the stain), but do it again.
Here's a 'housewife' site that's full of ideas for getting the grease out. I don't know if I would try the one with Cheese Whiz... ick...

The absolute best is either babypowder or cornstarch. Sprinkle either on the stain to cover it and then just let it stand for a while. When you notice that the babypowder or cornstarch has disappeared, along with the stain, then wash the garment. These two things even work with grease stains that have already been laundered and dried!
