Why do people put washing out in the rain?
Question:my neighbour leaves her washing out for days on end, i watched her peg it out whilst it was raining earlier. Surely you peg washing out to get it dry, so why do some leave it out in the rain?
Answers:
Some people are just weird!
I've put washing out before and as soon as it starts to rain I run out to bring it back in, its just lazy not to.
I have a neighbour who leaves hers out for days on end when its pissing it down, then you see them all wearing the clothes the skanks!!
its the fresh raining smell shes after, oh it maybe she wants to clean them with rain water, yummy
Don't know about where you live but the rain that comes out of the polluted skies is better than the crap I get from Severn Trent water.
I've always wondered this and this is my conclusion it is wet anyway so it can't really get any wetter and if we have funny weather like with have today the chances are it will dry! And it must dry as why would people peg wet washing out and then get wet washing in, hmmmmm!
Cos shes lazy and cant be bothered bringing it in.
She hung in out in the rain in anticipation of it being dry later in the day, maybe.
Rainwater is a natural softener! People also use it on their hair.
clothes smell fresher if theyve been hung out on the line. I leave mine out for a couple of days if I need to before bringing them in. If I used a clothes horse, my clothes wouldnt smell as good!
Prob cos they didn't know it was going to rain!
my neighbour does this, and we asked her the question - she says that she puts it out in the morning before doing the housework or going to work and just leaves it there until dry, which could be days.
The thing that gets me is that she also has a tumble dryer inside!
MAYBE THERE LIKE IT TO WASH BETTER
If it starts to rain when my washing is already out, and it's too late to 'save it', as it were, i just leave it. No rush bringing it in as it's already wet and probably dirty again.
plus, if it's raining, I don't wanna spend time out getting soaked bringing in the washing! lol.
Maybe she wanted to conserve her water.
I have no idea. Wats the point of putting washing out when it rains coz rain holds dust/dirt. Its beggers belief and surely it must smell a little.
You could say it´s because the rain water gives it that extra softness, but then again it could be because , once they are out on the line & it starts raining , whats the point in getting wet going out to bring them in. Then where are you going to put them , in the laundry basket ,hopeing that tomorrow it will be a nice day to hang them back out again. I had a neighbour that ,stood outside with her basket looking up at the clouds, and thinking to herself is it going to rain. I asked her are you hanging out your clothes today Maggie. ? Well she said looks like it´s about to rain, not sure if I should hang them out or put them in the dryer. I said by the time you have made up your mind, the clothes could have been hanging on the line and all dried . Yes , she said. Make´s you laugh. Don´t you think? Better looking at the weather forcast 1 day before.
it stops raining eventualy then it dries, no problem
perhaps she not the full ticket lolol i can understand her leaving it out in the rain if it was already hanging there when it started raining thinking to yourself well its wet now it might aswell stay there. but to put it out in the rain well i never heard the likes of it
I have heard that white sheets hung out in the rain and then dried with the sun become whiter but your neighbour' way of doing her washing gives me the impression she doesn't care or else she's just got a terrible memory.
