Make sure you load the washer evenly and that it's on a flat and solid surface. Careful if the washer moves too much and your hoses come loose, you'll be dealing with a big mess.
My washer did this once and flooded the garage.
You need to stop the wahser and redistribute the clothes evenly, all washers do this when they are top loaders and unbalanced.
All you need to do is make sure your clothes are spread evenly in the washer. If it starts making the noises and shaking just open it up and make sure everything is not on one side. Also be sure you are using the appropriate load size (aka don't wash towels and jeans on the medium setting) and don't overload it.
I had to hold mine up one end at a time and adjust the little feet on the bottom.
get a level...from the harware store or Walmart and lay it across the top so you can see when it's on the level.
Make sure your load isn't too big for you washer to handle. My washer does the same thing, particularly when I am washing my bed sheets (I have a King sized bed). I discovered that even though there is writing on my washer stating it is "commercial sized", I can't even do my whole sheet set at once! So I just have to make my load size smaller. This solves the problem for me.
My washer was doing this when it was on an uneven surface. I had a handyman build a nice short level wood platform for it and have had no problems since.
