How hard is your?

Question:water? I have to descale my kettle every 3-4 weeks does this mean i live in a very hard water area?

Answers:
YES, it sounds like you have a lot of calcium in your water if you have a white build-up that you are fighting. It's good that you are keeping it up though or after while of letting it go you may not be able to remove it anymore. You should look into a water softener.

u dont want to no how dirty that sounds crazy lady
I have soft water so can't help you there.
sounds like you do. i live in a soft water area so i have hardly any limescale.
My water is fine, never descale my kettle. I drink it straight from the tap.
Possibly, I live in what is termed a 'medium hard area' whatever the hell that means I don't know?
Yes you do. btw limescale won't do you any harm - another essential mineral added to your diet!

The main problem with limescale is accelerated wear on your washing machine and dishwasher.

Buy table water for cooking and drinking if you are concerned, it's mega cheap from your local supermarket (about 24p a big bottle).
Sounds like you live in very hard water area. I live in Nottingham. Water here is probably even harder than in london where i grew up. You can get things to put in kettles that attract the limescale to it, which can help. I use one and it seems to get most of the bits.

I've put a link below for gizmo that electrostatically softens your water as it enters the house.
I think so, i have the same problem where I live, I have bought some wire gadget to put in the kettle, all scale gathered on these wires and not on heater, I unroll and wash these wire balls every few weeks or buy new wire balls. cheaper then buying a new kettle, Also boiling water with spoon full of vinegar is a good cheep way to descale your kettle.
I used to be like you until I purchased a Scale Away from Ideal World. It cleans all the limescale out of the cold water coming into my flat. My water is now drinkable straight from the tap,my laundry seems softer and cleaner, and my central heating seems so much hotter now the pipes aren't clogged so that is saving me money in the long run. The best 80 quid I have ever spent
your local water company will tell you..
