Could I handwash/machine wash this "dry clean only" shrug that is made of linen/cotton/spandex?

Question:It's lightweight summer shrug, so it isn't lined or anything. Why would it need to be dry-cleaned? Can't you machine wash linen/cotton/spandex?

I have sensitive skin, and I can't wear it until I wash it or it will irritate my skin. I know about those things that you can put in the dryer with "dry clean only" clothes, but in this case I don't need to freshen the shrug--I need to get the chemical residue out of it.

This is the shrug, btw:

Thanks in advance!!

Answers:
Hand wash it in the sink with Woollite (or any handwashing detergent or your favorite body wash) in cold water. use only cold water, & hang or lay flat to dry. Heat will shrink it.

if it were just cotton/spandex i'd say go for it. linen is not a washable fabric and will rebel against the very thought. linen is made from flax and for some reason, pulls out of shape very easily. if you paid for the shrug yourself, you may want to return it if you can't wear it. drycleaning will only add more chemicals
Yeah, they just have to say that on the label. Wash real carefully in the sink and DON'T ring it out. That will stretch the material. Insted roll it flat in a towel.
I would hand wash it in Woolite and cold water and hang it to dry. A lot of times clothes can be washed, but manufacture's put "Dry Clean Only" on the labels to avoid trouble. Unless it's wool, or certain types of silk, it can be washed.
dry clean means "Not Wet".
I use the Dryel kits all the time. They have a liquid stain remover that works well and the bag that you put your clothes in steams out the wrinkles while a small cloth soaked in dry cleaning liquid put in with the clothes leaves them smelling very fresh. Just be sure to hang up the clothes immediately after the dryer is done. It is easy and cheap and pretty close to actual dry cleaning
Wash it in cold water but don't put it in the dryer or it will shrink.
I hand wash all my dry clean only stuff from forever 21 and have never had a problem. Just be gentle with it.
