Does anyone know how to remove settled iron from the bottom of a pool?
Question:We have a lot of iron in our water. We have a 15'X48" above ground easy set up pool. We have got the iron to settle on the bottom of the pool but we are having trouble removing it.
Answers:
That would work to help pick up some but it won't remove any staining that the metal might cause.
You can get a metal locking solution from the pool store or wherever you purchase pool chemicals. Then you will want to do a couple things after adding half again as much of this as calls for.... put the bottom leg of a pair of pantyhose (cut off about 6 inches of the toe section) over the skimmer basket and then drop in a couple chlorine tablets into the basket. This will help the water drop the metal right at the hose and any that passes will be caught in the filter. The hose carries a static charge that will help attract the iron as it falls out of the water.
at home depot, they sell these long magnet bars that roofers use to drag over the lawn to pick up nails. buy one of those & drag it across the bottom of the pool.--it's mounted on wheels
