How do I get a bad smell out of my clothes?
Question:Last week, my dryer started smelling like buring rubber when I ran it. So I stopped using it, got it fixed and it's ok now. The only thing is that the clothes that were in the dryer at the time it started to smell, now smell like burning rubber. I've washed them multipule times and have sprayed them a few times with Febreeze, but they still smell horrible. Does anyone know how to get the smell out? Thanks for the help!

i had this problem once. the belt broke while my clothes were in they dryer, and they smelled like burnt rubber even after i washed them. try letting them soak overnight in the washer with your regular laundry soap and some oxy-clean. the next day, run them through the wash cycle twice, and let them air dry. if you have no where to hang all the clothes to dry, just put them on the lowest setting in your dryer. the oxy-clean is about 3 bucks for a small tub...it dosent work on alot of things, but its good at getting smells out of fabrics in the wash! if this dosent work, you could try the dry cleaners, or buy one of thoes dry cleaning kits (which is a little less expensive) and do it yourself at home...but be sure to follow the directions! another thing i've tried, is downy wrinkle releaser. i love that stuff! it smells great, and the smell dosent go away like febreeze does!
Try taking them to the dry cleaners
If they are bleach safe try washing them with bleach, it gets out mildew and other objectionable odors.
Try color safe bleach if they can't be washed with regular bleach.
Baking soda also helps, and white vinegar if you don't mind smelling like a pickle!
I had a similar problem with clothes that was in the basement. wash them again but let them soak over night first in a mild detergent and let air dry.
Wash the clothes again on a cold wash, hang them outside in the fresh air for a day or 2, this will rid the smell of the burnt rubber from your clothes
