Cleaning the bathroom?
Question:My parents are disgusting and they never clean their bathroom. So they sent me in there to clean it. It was GROSS. The soap bar was all covered in red fungus. Around the sink, in the cracks and actually on the counter. There was a green mold, on the counter. Coming from an electric toothbrush station. There was a brownish mold coming from the soap dish. There was a black and red mold/fungus around the sink. I already have severe breathing problems, the bathroom has been in this state for years. It has only recently (past one or two years) gotten to this level. I was breathing it in for about a half an hour while i attempted to clean. Am i in harms way?

Clean it...I mean you will have to do it eventually in your own home. Use Ammonia and lime-based products to remove fungus & Mold. for the rest (I've been in the cleaning industry for 20 years)..You will be surprsed how much just a wash cloth and water will clean...most cleaning products are 95% water. Make it healthy in there for you..don't look at it like you are doing work for them..You are doing something for you!

No drink a glass of milk and don't clean their bathroom anymore! I wouldn't send my kids to clean my mess unless I was handicapped.
Turn a heavy duty exhaust fan on and spray the entire bath with 1/2 and 1/2 bleach and water. Let it sit for an hour or two then hose it down and clean the whole thing up with a shop vac.
The level of your breathing probs and type of mold will dictate your future troubles. Most mold related breathing probs are from longer term exposure.
You are most definitely in harms way. I cannot believe any parents would subject their child to this kind of danger. They must really be slobs to live like that for years. Maybe you should call the health dept. I can*t understand why you aren*t*t overrun with roaches.
booger has a good point. you will need to live there at least until you can move away to school.
yes you are in danger.
but once this horror is cleaned it will take a while before it gets that bad again. so remember you are the one who must suffer the most from this so do it about twice a month to keep the mold down and then when you move out remember not to ever send your kids to stay there for a night as this will be there job while they are there.
