Can I just fill my washing machine with the garden hose?

Question:There is a leak in the in-coming line and the plumber won't come until after the 4th of July. I need to wash clothes. Can I just fill the washer with the garden hose and wash clothes or will it work like this?

Answers:
you should be able to make up a female to female adapter at the hardware store. (make take a couple of different fittings). Just tell them what you are trying to do. It should be only a few bucks.

Then hook up the water to the cold input of the washer, turn the hose on and run as normal. (Cold water wash only). You won't have to stand there and get errors stop/start the machine etc.

Good luck!
One note: If you do it this way, make sure you turn your hose off if you're not using the washer. Would hate to see a burst hose while you're out shopping!

Yes; just watch to see you don*t overfill it and flood the basement or house. I used this method at our clubhouse because the wash machine was on the porch and the water was down below.
Yes you can No problem. You will need to pay attn when it needs to refill again or you can just connect the hose to your cold inlet and put the wash cycle on cold only and itl wash ok by itself. Good luck
You can do the wash fine, but the rinse will be a bit trickier.
Yes, but you may have to fill it through the drawer where the wash powder goes. Take the drawer out and put the pipe down the hole. You knew the drawer cam out didn't ya? :-)
You will need to fill the machine with the loading door shut, so you can judge the water level..probably no more than 1/3rd up the door. It will take longer to do a cycle as the water will need to heat up..you aint putting any hot in.
Yes you can!
Just be sure to keep an eye on it and don't overfill... add the water at the time when the cycle would fill up, to wash and rinse. Good luck!
yes it will , be sure to stay near and keep a good eye on while it is running and catch the rinse cycle,to put in more.. also know that some detergents are made which do not dissolve in cold water. if this is the case then mix the warm water and soap in a pail or such and add to machine before the water is added for the cycle.

good on you.

i used the bath tub for 3 years to wash baby cloths before we could afford a washer.
