Can you get burn mark off pvc window ledge?
Question:i have a big black burn mark on my white pvc window ledge is there a way to get rid or cover it
Answers:
2000 grit Wet and Dry paper - from a car shop - soak the paper for at least 30 mins in warm water - when fully soaked - use some T Cut and the paper and gently (I MEAN GENTLY) rub the surface until the mark is gone - then wash with warm soapy water and finally - using a soft cloth and the T Cut - polish out any fine marks that may remain - if you want you can also apply car wax to make it shine like new
DON'T USE SANDPAPER - YOU WILL FCUK UP YOUR PVC -
You could try sanding off the mark.
I would start with a very fine paper to 400 grit and work the spot with finer and finer grains of sand paper until it is gone.
get two sizes of sand paper and some "soft scrub" (or that type of product)
get some 150 grit sand paper and some 220 grit sand paper. use the 150 to remove the stain (until the black is gone and it's white again) then use the 220 to smooth the PVC. last step is to polish the PVC with the soft scrub-what you're looking for here is a liquid cleanser that's gentle. this should remove the burn-it will, however, leave a slight indention in the PVC, but that can't be helped. the same method applies to counter tops that are solid (same color/material) throughout the entire piece.
l would use a sharp razor blade to scrape/shave it then finish it off with the sandpaper.
Try gently buffing it with T-Cut.
Available from most supermarkets and car accessory shops, it's mildly abrasive and is mainly used for polishing scratches out of car body work.
