What washer and dryer should I buy?

Question:We are moving and dont have a vent and drain in the same location so if we get a stackable, it needs to be ventless (does that exist?). The area for the washing machine (where the drain is) is small (a 24" machine will fit) and the dryer can be any size. We were looking at combo's but I'm not too sure about them, and I dont mind not having the washer and dryer in the same place. We can spend a max of 1100 and want something reliable that will work for the next few years trouble free... Any thoughts?

Answers:
If you want something under 1100, keep an eye out for Whirlpool, they make kenmores. Ge's are also doing good as well. The wtw5830 whirlpool is quite good.

In front loading for under 1100 you'll have to go Frigidaire.

Any particular reason it only needs to last a few years? Are you getting new units after that? If so look at some cheaper models, you'll sacrifice features but save money.

If your not wanting to pay for front loaders because of cost, you should consider it. Yes you will pay much more up front but you'll use so much less energy. Here are some stats:

Front load: 12-20 gallons of water per load
Top load: 40-60 gallons of water per load
>>>Tons of money saved there.
Front load: 900-1300 rotations per minute on the spin cycle
Top load: 400-500 rpm
>>>More water is removed allowing for quicker drying times > less electricity > less damage to clothes due to heat.

Front load: Agitator-less
Top load: Agitator
>>>Less damage to clothes

Front load: Horizontal drum
Top load: Vertical drum
>>>Allows for less water and more effecient cleaning.

Front load: HE (High Effeciency) Detergent
Top load: Regular detergent
>>>You'll use less.

Front load: 3.5 - 4.0 cu. ft
Top load: 3 - 3.5 cu. ft.
>>>The agitator takes up room. More room means more clothes, almost all front loaders can handle a king size comforter.

I took the time to explain the benefits of front loading laundry units so you'll understand why your paying the extra cost. Honestly, unless you truly can't afford it get a decent pair of front loaders. LG, Whirlpool and Samsung have the highest quality products right now as well as GE.

If your installing these on a 2nd floor or a floor with a crawlspace. Then you'll need to look at Whirlpool's, Samsung's and LG's the ones with the fins. Ask a salesman which ones have them. It should be the WM2487 and WM2688. The higher model Samsung has the VRT feature.

Good luck with your purchase. If you have any more questions please contact me.

Sears Kenmore is a good brand! Ventless dryer, IDK about that! Good luck!
I suggest getting a Consumers Report book and see what on the recommended list of wahser and dryers fit the specs you listed above.
Kenmore, the best and very dependable, stackable or seperate, I have had 3 and they all are still working with no mainteance, I gave the first 2 sets to my children, we all love them. good luck!!
With all the info about front loaders its gotta be the most energy efficient choice, and i like conservation. If you have to go top loader, I hear they just stopped making my favorite washer (too dependable) accept i still see them on line.In a stackable for around 1200 saw one store that included shipping & tax all for under 1300.Its the old design Maytag LSG7806 its the best. if you can fit 27.5 wide and need a gas dryer. it seems i can only find them in bisque(model#ending in Q )home depot shows it for 1149 plus tax maybe you can pick-up.home depot sells a LINT TRAP KIT for your venting issue , ive never used one but i would suggest trying it making sure that it doesnt get the drywall wet.
