Yes, a steamer cleaner does a good job at removing water from carpet and pad. This is only after the standing water is removed with a shopvac or pump. A steam cleaner can do the whole job, however the tank is usually so small that you spend more time emptying it than you do filling it.

If your where they have walmarts..you can get a wet vac now days for about 24.00 to 29.00 dolars..you will pay that out RENTING a steamer unless you have access to a free one...Wet vac you will have something left over to show for it..and it has many uses. You do not want them little 1 gallon ones, get at least a three gallon.
