Bathmat rubber stuck to floor?
Question:The backside of my bathmats have stuck to the floor. I dont understand what happened - They are martha Stewart Collection, I think the backing is rubber. I was an dry them regularly.
I think my floor is ceramic. the bathmat has left large amounts of hard gray STUFF on the tiles, that I cannot even scrap off - I am moving and need to leave the home in the condition I found it - help! How the heck do I get this stuff off?
Answers:
try Goo-Gone and elbow grease.
i would call the manufacturer of the bathmats, if you can find it.
You might try this: Get a moist (not sopping wet) towel and lay over the area, then iron it on a medium setting, do one area at a time, applying heat to affected area and then try gently scraping the gray stuff off. You may have to repeat this process several times to remove all of it. But this process should loosen it up. Usually this sort of thing happens when condensation sets up under the mat when you take a hot shower and then it dries, sometimes the backing will stick to certain surfaces. Good luck!
Give it a first shot soaking the stains in a mix of bleach and scrubbing bubbles, let it sit for 5 minutes and it should dissolve the gray thing.
If this doesn't work and you do have ceramic tiles, then you want to go with the next solution:
apply some nail-polish remover (Acetone). Be careful since the fumes are very strong.
A stronger variation of the above solution is paint thinner, that stuff will sure get any residues off, but might stain the tiles.
