How to take white out off from metal?

Question:I have a combination lock, and have gotten white out all over it, and i dont know what to do to remove all of it. I have tried scrapping it out but it will just take alot of effort and time. So please if you guys can help me out. Thanks

Answers:
Put the lock in the freezer. The metal will contract and the 'wite-out' will get brittle and flake off. The solvent for 'wite-out' is usually acetone, (nail polish remover) but that may take the paint off the dial so you can't see the numbers.

I would try 1. gasoline 2. WD-40 3. Goo Gone
Good luck
Try lacquer thinner or acetone.
I'd use a straight razor blade.
