What ways can I restore the color of my old cotton jacket?

Question:I have a hooded cotton jacket which I recently bought. I like how soft it was but when I put it in the washing machine and drier, it came out a little bit faded and lost it's softness. Is there a product out there that I can buy to restore the color (black)?

Answers:
I would go and buy a box of black Rit dye. Follow the package directions to dye the jacket. After that, the first time you wash it again, wash in cold water with 2 tablespoons salt and 1/4 cup of vinegar. This will help set the color in. For future washes, turn darks inside out to help keep color longer.

I'm thinking what about clothes dye? Can't you dye it .
Why not use washing machine dye? and wash and dry it inside out, you should do this with everything to stop fading.
