How do I get grease stains out of my pants?

Question:I went to the movies and, even though I set napkins on my lap, it still managed to get grease stains on my pants. They are a 97% cotton 3% spandex blend. Can someone please help me to get this out?

Answers:
Dawn dish soap is very effective on grease/oil stains. Just apply it to the stain about 20 minutes before you wash it. if you have already put the pants through the drier, however, you have likely set in the stain. If this is the case, make a paste of Dawn and baking soda. Apply it to the stain and let it sit overnight. Then launder as usual.

The BEST product I have found for grease stains (and I am really messy eater) is "Grease Lightning." I buy it from the Dollar Store of Wal-Mart, in the cleaning isle. This product is even better because it can be used on ANYTHING: carpet stains, tile, scum, mold, dirt... in the bathroom, living, kitchen, outdoors (we cleaned out entire boat with it), and LAUNDRY.
I've had good luck using a waterless hand cleaner like Gojo, it's made to emulsify grease. I just put it on the stain, work it in gently, and let it sit for an hour or so. Then wash.

Shout also works good.
Try laying the pants on a flat surface and sprinkle corn starch liberly over the grease spot.Rub into the spot , Let sit overnight and the cornstarch will absorb the oil . Then apply a small amount of dawn dish liquid and rub into the spot wash in warm water and see if the spot is gone
Wipe down with mineral spirits, paint thinner, it will dissolve the oil, then pre-spot and wash in hot.
I keep a spray can of brake cleaner in my laundry room for this purpose, grease that has been sitting on fabric or already washed and didn't come out. I spray it on the clothing, let it sit for 5 minutes, give it a light rub with a white towel (do not used colored fabric, colored towels or paper towels on your pants) then throw in the washer and wash to manufacturer's specifications. The brake cleaner is also good on car grease, I even used it on wool pants then took them to the cleaners. Another product that I use a lot is DeSolvit and Goo Gone for greasy food stains. They are made of natural ingredients and do have a better smell than the brake cleaner. Good luck with your pants.
