How can I clean black crust-like stains off the toaster and it's tray?
Question:We use the toaster a lot and also the tray that goes in it (for fries, chicken, etc) and we wash and dry the pan... but it is covered in this black layer? Help!!
Answers:
Try useing an oven cleaner...
Also try "BAM" cleaner...It works wonders.
An SOS pad will work if its not teflon coated.
Use an SOS pad on those crust like stains if it isn't Teflon coated, otherwise, use a green scratch brite pad w/ Dawn dish soap on it.
There are several things you can try
For the removable pan:
1.Rub in automatic dishwasher liquid to the spots and allow to work for a while. then wash in dishwasher OR with very hot water.
2. Spray oven cleaner on the brown areas. Allow to set for up to an hour then wash in hot water.
3. Warm the removable pan first. then remove it and then spray on oven cleaner. Wash with hot water. ( This is my preferred way. Oven cleaner will remove the blackened crust from pyrex, cookie sheets, cake pans, etc.)
For the toaster oven. Unplug it first. There used to be a product called Jubilee, it was an appliance polish, if not available get a degreaser cleanser like CLR, . With a soft rag, rub Jubilee or a degreaser into the spots. Wait a while, then with a clean area on the rag rub the spots off.
I don't think you should spray any chemicals on the tray, but try letting it soak in pretty hot water, and come back and scrub it off. Should come off. If it's black with age, consider a new tray/toaster?
dampen a paper towel with vinegar and leave it on the "crust" for a while (say 30 minutes or so). it should loosen up the mess so then be cleaned with regular soap and water.
