I have a new stove that I don't like. The drip pans are always sticky. What will cut this film?
Question:I've tried everything. They sent a sample solution to soak them in but it didn't work. What will cut it? Dishwasher won't touch it, kinda makes it worse because of the heat. They feel gummy!
Answers:
grease lightining.wd40 will cut out the gummies,too..
Soak it TSP, Tri Sodium Phosphate, get it at home centers, if it won't take it off, it doesn't come off, this stuff will take dried paint out of paint brushes.
One thing I would do if none of this other stuff works, just go to Lowe's or The Home Depot. In their appliances section, you can get new drip pans for your stove there.
If you can find a "Zep" store near you, try their "formula 50", it's a great de-greaser and used commercially. Sometimes some of the Home Depot stores will carry this item.
I buy this by the gallon and always have a supply on hand, great for automotive work also as a parts cleaner.
We also have a spray bottle in the kitchen for use in the oven and stove parts.
Go to wal-mart theres a bottle in cleaning supplies its white with lightening on it and it is called greased lightening. That is what I use and it does a great job.
I would use oven cleaner. It will clean them as well as the burners and oven.
Be careful using some other things that aren't meant for use as stove / oven cleaners. Some stuff can be toxic.
Considering your pans are NOT non-stick, use Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. Here’s what I do:
Wash the pan in regular dish detergent and dry it – just enough to get the excess grease off. Then, put the pan on a piece of newspaper and spray it with the oven cleaner. Spray it in a well-ventilated area and on a surface where the oven cleaner will not damage the surface (I use an old carpet from my garage). Leave the oven cleaner spray on for at least ½ hour to one hour. Use rubber gloves and an old sponge when cleaning. Your drip pans won’t be “sticky” anymore. You can use the oven cleaner on stainless steel, stained baking dishes, or Pyrex. Read the directions on the oven cleaner spray can for “safe” use on certain surfaces. My drip pans look brand new! I would not recommend using the oven cleaner IN THE OVEN if your oven is self cleaning. It may damage the surface. First, read the manual that came with your oven. Otherwise, this should do the trick.
Wash them.
