Living with 3 guys..super dirty rug that I can't clean! HELP!!?
Question:I just moved into a house with another girl..but we moved in with 3 guys. One of the rugs is so dirty that we decided to steam clean it. However - it's not as clean as we'd like. We tried this "Resolve - Heavy Traffic Area" Spray..but it didn't work.
I need some advice as to what we can get...we need to do this tonight. Thanks. :)

You'll need a carpet cleaning machine or steam cleaner more than likely. Go to a Wal Mart and rent one, you will definitely get better results than simply using OTC products in cans, plus the machines are intended to draw all of the detergents and water back out of the carpet which will keep them looking clean. If you don't get all of the cleaner out of the carpet, they attract dirt (that is what detergents do), so you will end up with a dirty carpet again very soon.
a product at home depot (and wal-mart-type places) called capture
Try the rug-doctor shampoo with Oxy!! I used it for one of my clients that had never had their carpet shampooed in 13 years, Looks like new! I used a rug-doctor from Wal-Mart!
Why do you mention the guys, admit you are partly responsible for the dirt. Don't be sexist!
Oh admit it Michael men are typicaly pigs! I know this because I have a husband and two sons. N-E-Ways I cleaned my carpet a week ago. It looked alright but like you said not as clean as I liked. And of course it is very light carpet so it shows everything! I know from previous carpet experiences, that the rug doctor works a whole lot better then a regular steam cleaner, like I have used. So I am going to go rent one and hope for the best. Also the oxy does make a big difference. You can rent the rug dr and buy the oxy cleaner at Wal-Mart and I have even seen it in grocery stores. After you get it clean, try not to walk on it until it dries. Some stains do resurface a week or so later at that point you may want to rent the dr again. That should make a big difference. After that keep up on it with the regular steamer. Hope it works!!
