Wiithout drycleaning, what is another alternative to washing my 2 goosedown comforters?
Question:Will they loose there "fluff"? Does Dryel work?
Answers:
I bring mine to the laundromat and wash them in the big round washers with a little soap and warm water then i put them in the big tumble dry dryer on low for 45minutes to an hour and they fluff up and dry,it's a cheaper way and they come out great.Buy some dryer balls and put them in the dryer they help to fluff up all your clothes and they can be used over and over for years they are about a couple of dollars according to where you buy them.
Wash it in Woolite and water.
Do not run spin cycle or better yet, hand wash.
Sun dry it.
Run it on fluff dry (no heat) in dryer for 1 hour.
Sundry again
Fluff once again.
I do this all the time... no biggie!
You could try Dryel. Or, if needed, try to wash them in cold water, in a front loader washer, at least a 20#'er at the laundramat. Then, dry them on low, with a clean tenis shoe (like keds') to help them "fluff".
Please try Dryel first. Take care.
I've washed my my goosedown comforter in the regular wash. The secret is to dry it with two tennis balls in the dryer. It comes out clean smelling and fluffy. This method has saved my hundreds of $$.
Good luck.
I take mine to the laundromat and use the really big washers and dryers. I have four of them and never had a problem.
Your down comforter can be dry cleaned, but laundering with water and gentle cleaning solutions specially formulated for down is a preferred method.
Stick to dry cleaning. Dryel doesn't work that great.
