My father spilled gasoline on his shoes what can we do to clean them?

Question:Is there anything that we can use to clean them or should he just throw them out. I know they are flammable.

Answers:
Regular dish detergent and water just wipe them down, the flammable properties dissipate in the air within a few minutes

After you clean them and air them as suggested above, check the colors when they are dry. If they don't look uniform get some of that brush-on shoe dye and go over them to restore the original color. Then wax and buff them to look like new.
rinse them well with the garden hose, then just wash them in the washing machine. It they still smell, repeat. Air dry the shoes.
